Day 1
Wow its been a hard day. I heard news of "attacks" across campus where the victims have died but were still moving around. I heard that the only form of identification is a bandanna that the remaining survivors wear around their legs or arms. I saw a few people arm themselves and i had to do so myself. I loaded up with a 35 shot with decent range and accuracy to take out the infected. All i hope is that I will survive to see day 2. I will be in contact with remaining humans such as Ben, Steve, dave, danielle and Chich. I hope that the 6 of us can come up with a plan of survival. If you read this post and are still alive please contact me so that we can all survive this together and make it out alive. Tomorrow will be my first real test because i will be traveling alone to class in the morning hours.
To all those still alive, I wish you luck

Witches teet!
3-3
Thats the best record the Gunx have had at a tournament. Due to a hurt thumb, I was stuck on the sideline both days. There was some problems that I noticed while watching and keeping stats.
Day 1:
Game 1: New Paltz vs. RPI "Z"
We started late due to some mix ups with the schedule but we started up after getting a very nice long warm up/self scrimage. We came out hard and scored first. The game was close all the way but we pulled ahead at hard cap to win 7-5. Ben Handbloacked Chetti!! TWICE!!! Alex Pinn had some beautiful cuts and catches and threw 2 goals to Brendan for a freshman connection. All in all we payed well but had some silly mistakes and bad drops. O BTW Doober loves "DA BLADE".
Game 2: New Paltz vs. Clarkson High Dive
After an hour and a half bye we got to play again and we came out fired up from our previous win against RPI. Im not sure about this game or the next but I do know that we lost.
Game 3: does not exist
Game 4: New Paltz vs. Purchase
Purchase got skullfucked and yet we had a bast. I realized that we play our best when we are having fun more then when we are trying to beat a team that angers us.
day 2:
Game 1: New Paltz vs. sienna
Great start to this game came out 3-0, going to half was a tad closer but we came out on top. I thought we played really well but could have been a tad better on the handle.
Game 2: New paltz vs union
god game couldnt get o working was a loss

a slow start
We started this year nicely but we are moving slowly because of no shows at practice and sick/injured people. I am one of the sick/injured players that show up no mater what. I want to be able to do practice so that i can help the new players and old step up the games intensity. I know that i am one of those who should not speak about intensity because i do not bring it in the scrimmages but i try and bring it during the drills.
Drills:
The drills have become lack luster and slow moving because of dropped passes and not "going to". In the drills we should be running as fast as we possibly can so that we can become tired and keep going. The drills we have been doing so far are alright but we need to set aside and demonstrate how the drill should be done with ppl who want the team to go somewhere. After we are done with the drills then we should explain the offense and defense and what should happen.
Scrimmage:
So far the scrimmages have been going alright a few bumps but it doesn't look like a scrimmage it looks more like grab assing or pick up. There are fouls that go uncalled and a billion travels.(Nothing being called) Ok yes its the beginning of the year buit we have a tournament in two weeks time and we need to start teaching these things so that everyone is on the same page. If we dont call them out on it during practice the team we are versing sure as hell will. I know we dont want to put too much into the new kids right away but we need to put somnethng there. I definitly feel as though we need to teach them offenses more so that they can understand it. like take a whole week at teaching offense and making sure it runs smoothly. I dont care if it gets boring but we need to put it into their heads. I know im hypocritical about things but i feel as though an offense and a deffense should be the things to teach right now as we move into our next stage of ultimate.
Things i want to see in practice:
1) ten pole:
it works well for keeping the idea of possesion.
2) full field:
obvious reasons i want the new kids to understand the size of field we have to work with.
3) observing:
meaning having te captains sitting on the sidelines calling things out and talking to us and explainging things
4) intensity:
the full speed running abilities of all of our players, RUN, if your tired take a sub, then get back in and run some more.
5) attendance:
i would like to see the attendance to rise up so that there are more healthy players then sick players that show up
I dont know what to say but i want things to pick up better

playing again
I finally Played Ultimate for the first time in what felt like a year. If you were there you could see how bad i was compared to the rest of my team. I honestly played as though it was the first time i ever picked up a disc. My throws were mediocre at best when they did not wobble. I had a few "hucks" if thats what you can even cal them were to curvy and would not fly straight for the life of me. My longest throw of the day was actually a flick that i threw with my foot that went 35 yds. Enough about the good part of my game, now on to my running and stamina. I couldnt run 10 yds without having to stop and take 2 points off or walk for 50. Well i honestly dont know what to say, i just played all around like crap. But thats gonna stop i have two upcoming tournaments one is ablany and one in wildwood. I hope that I can keep myselve together for both tournaments.

fuck da snertz
I did what i could of snertz yesterday and I believe that i am feeling it today in my calves. I failed doing all of it because i drank too much water and almost threw up. It was not a good day for me. I must push on and become the ultimate ultimate player. Alex completed the whole thing which is good for him but bad for me, that just means that i need to step up my game and fuck snertz in the ass next time around.
I must be like doobs and everyone else who is owning face and playing hard and getting in maximun play time.
In other news I am getting goaltimate soon and i get to go to magic roll this sunday to play. Im going to run as fast as i can to blow people out of the water.
The things doober said about my game made me realize that I need to work on alot of things and not just let my height be my only key part of my game.

College Schmollege weekend and views for next year
College Schmollege:
Started off the day a little different then we normally would. We woke up EARLY and were the FIRST ones at the tournament. We got their early to set up stretch and work on our zone in the wind. We started out sloppily but we were just waking up and warming up. The wind started out strong but then died down to what we are used to. Our first game started out against SUNY Albany where we played strong and came out amped but just didnt have enough ampedness to defeat that team and we fell after half 15-7 or something similar to that.
Our second game was against our friends SUNY Purchase. We got amped because we have beat this team before and we knew we could do that again plus we played for fun rather then to win the game. If we play to have fun like we did during this game we would be unstoppable against alot of these teams. We took the lead 2-1 but then that cam back 4-2 and we played our hardest to take half 8-6. Us taking half was the best thing that could have happened to us. After half we shut them down and we finished the game 15-6, which is in my opinion the best we have played in a while. After game shenanigans occured as always and the purchase guys pants alot of people except for this one dude from oneonta that pants himself and was running around screaming "they got me". It was alot of fun. Charlie got 4 layout pantsings on mitch and Ben didnt have to take the "insta jack formula" because his hucks were beautiful 85% of the time. Our offense really played well and had great flow, while our D was as strong as ever.
Our third game was against Ursinus, and we were a little too happy about our win over Purchase that we let them walk all over us for tem to take half 8-4. During half we had a strong inspirational speech from Ben that pumped us up and made me want to play my ass off to pull off a come back win. I got on the field and i didnt want to get off until either the game was over or i couldnt move anymore. we came back within 3 to where the game could have been ours but we could not pull threw. OUr last point i believe was a beautiful hammer that i threw to Ben. Anyway the game ended with a final score of 15-10. We played hard in the second half and it tired us out for our fourth and final game of day 1.
Our final game of day 1 was a tired game against RIT Spuds. They had a total of 2 subs and they were tired as all fuck. They took half 8-1 and i played 5 straight points up to half, I would have kept going but 4 points after half i layed out for a pass but i hit my head and dropped the pass that was in my hand. That was a big mistake it was in my hand and i dropped it. I can promise you this, that will never happen again. We lost the game 15-5 i believe.
Day 2 can be summed in one word, SHORT. Everything we did was short, the field we played on was short, the game we played against oneonta was short, our players were short against theirs and our short game was where it was at, at least for our team. Im not sure our short game was that great but i know that our deep game was lacking if it wasnt for Eli. That man caught almost everything we threw at him, and the ones he didnt catch were not his fault at all. o BTW we lost to Oneonta 13-idk it doesnt matter, they took us more seriously this time around and they werent dicks this time around.
I didnt play that well this weekend, i noticed that i was very slow ad that my throws were definitely not good. I think its a mental problem that i have to walk on, if its not a mental problem then idk what else it is.
Views on Next Year:
For the team next year i feel as though we need to work on flow and getting open. I know its not that simple but it is as simple as watching the handlers and cutters and seeing where the disc is moving and cutting to the side of the field that the disc is moving to. We have to teach the team to be able to recognize zone and disc movement, we have to be able to watch the disc and see which side of the field the disc is moving to the cut appropriately. Another thing is that we have to finish our cuts and cycle through and move back into the stack. After that we need to work on the basics and get good throws and work on stamina and running speed. I have a few ideas for drills but im not sure if they are good enough. o well, i guess we will see next year

Capture the Flag, greatest game ever!, tonight was alot of fun, it poured and what not and dan went in the gunk twice and i faked someone out to run for a win, all in all it was a good day
reflection on the Teams first two years so far
This is my first blog so dont expect much out of me. I would like to talk about the progression that the team has taken over the course of these two years. First the team itself.
Last year we had huge crowd join the team (including me) that were new to the sport and yet willing to sacrifice almost everything to get better and get to the point where we are now. Our captain Bridget Conrad, started the team three years ago with no success. Last year was the frst year that she actually had enough interest in the team by freshman who wanted to join and play. The problem with starting this team is that not everyone knew how to play or throw or catch. In fact some of us were literally the worst players that the captains have ever seen. At one point we had 24 members on the team and 18 of them were freshman. I was one of them. I didnt know anything about the sport, except that it was fun and that i wanted to be great at it. Well the semester started off with 3 hour practices learning the basics, flick, stack, backhand, zone and marking. We werent the greatest at it but we did have alot of good players that could teach us. It took me 3 months to get a working flick that i could use in a game, my marks werent bad and i was tall. We had a few "shining stars" on the team that have p[layed before and knew what they were doing, while the rest of us didnt. We played in two scrimmages, one against Vassar b team were we long 15-13, in a great game. The other scrimmage was against "the elders" (pick up group around this area) We lost that game as well but not as close of a margin. Well that didnt stop us, we worked hard and did our best all through fall semester to get to our first tournament.
The tournament was "Funky Mountain III", it was in east Strasbourg Pennsylvania and the weather was horrible. When i say the weather was horrible i mean the weather was really fucking bad. There was a monsoon. The ground was frozen and muddy at the same time with a huge 20 yard long puddle in the middle of the end zone. Well we started out strong against a team that i dont remember and we beat them with a decent margin enough to declare us the victors. That was our first win as a team, although it wasnt against a college it was against a club team. After wining that game we had an hour long bye to wait for our next game. During this time the storm picked up and it got worse, we ended up huddling close together in a little out cove and we were singing songs and having a jolly old time. Our next game was was against "Big Red Death Machine",on the worlds worst field. The field was horrible if you stood for 1 second u were a foot underground. They were scary and old but we knew we could do some damage. We started off strong taking a 2-0 lead, breaking their zone in half. Once they realized this they threw man at us and we fucked up. We lost that game 15-2. Mitch and Dave got hypothermia and almost died, so we decided to skip out next game and go warm up and get some food. So we drove back and dave doobs and ben took a shower together and had a shit load of fun. We all eventually passed out and i fell asleep in between a wall and a bed. Day two started a little better and we had two games. Game one we lost because of something that has happened to our team. Game two was alot closer, we came back in that game to lose 15-13, but it wasnt our fault their team had a guy who had a full field everything. That was our first tournament ever. We practiced a little more and we had a few scrimmages here and there and a hat tournament, we picked up a new important player but lost a few but nothing else for our first year as a team.
Over the summer we all played as much as we could, i started up a pick up group on Staten island and went to 3 tournaments. I went to Coney Island, Wildwood, and Ow My Knee. I wanted to become the best player i could possibly be. At the end of the summer we couldnt wait to get back and play and have fun, we had lost a few players over the course of the summer but its fine we could survive. We had a large pick up day with three fields and nearly 50 people who showed up and wanted to play. We explained to the freshman and whoever else showed up about the team and what we wold liek to do. We had our first practice and we had literally 30 kids show up. These kids were on the team already or wanted to join. The number of people showing up would dwindle down to the number we have now which is roughly 23 kids on the team. We almost had to start from scratch but we didnt and we taught these "freshies" the basics and they caught on faster then we did. They caught on so fast that we could actually go to some tournaments in our first semester. We went to three tournament spread out between two states. Although we didnt win any games from my memory, we did have strong flow and we all got along very well.
Spring semester started out decently Strong and the freshman and grown to where we are and what not. We were one as a whole and we played like it. We went to alot of tournament and there was a stretch of weeks where we had a tournament every week. That stretch is still going right now. We had about 6 tournaments/ round robins/ scrimmages in the past 6 weeks. In my opinion we always play strong but not as strong as we could when we are playing our best. Our flow is impeccable when it is on. We were working our asses off for one tournament in particular where we went 1-3. This tournament was college sectionals for our section. We play strong but we somehow always lose our first game. This should not be. I mean What The Fuck we should have beat these teams. O well the past is the past. We just need to work on the now and improve improve improve.
As our semester in coming to a close and people are hitting their end point, i would just like to say that i am extremely proud of the team and how far we have come. I know that we can do better. I believe in all of us. Lets prove it to ourselves that we can kick ass.
